01

What does this hire really come down to?

This role completes treasury setups after the agreement is signed. You need someone who converts product requirements into working client setups. If they cannot configure the interface, the implementation stalls.

Expect your candidate to spend their day mapping client ERP systems to your platform files. They must balance the client technical contact against your internal product teams. If they fail to secure data files or test file transmission early, the whole timeline slips. You need a person who builds the connectivity and owns the testing phase until go-live.

Ask them to walk through a specific implementation failure. Ask how they resolved a mismatched file format during a migration. Ask what happens when a client refuses to provide the technical documentation required for integration. You are looking for a direct path to resolution, not someone who relies on internal teams to fix every hurdle.

Focus your initial conversation on the specific technical evidence of their past work rather than relying on their description of responsibilities. Ask for the specific error codes they resolved when establishing Secure File Transfer Protocol connections for new corporate treasury accounts. Request that they explain their exact workflow for reconciling mismatched data fields between a client Enterprise Resource Planning system and a proprietary treasury portal. Watch for whether they speak about these tasks with precise detail regarding protocols like ISO 20022 or whether they generalize the process. A strong candidate provides clear examples of how they diagnosed a failure in a live testing environment without escalating to an engineering team prematurely. If they explain a time they had to push back on a client request to maintain system stability then document exactly how they communicated the technical limitation. You need to see if they understand the constraints of the banking interface and the requirements of the client simultaneously. During this conversation look for their ability to manage a project schedule without supervision from a product owner. If the candidate relies on someone else to define the testing parameters or write the configuration guides then they are not ready for this individual contributor role. We look for evidence of autonomy in creating the project plan for a complex integration project. Inquire how they handled a situation where a client documentation request was incomplete or incorrect. Did they wait for a response or did they proactively reach out to the technical contact to get the necessary parameters for the setup? If you receive answers that lack concrete steps or rely on team collaboration to solve basic connectivity issues then remove them from consideration. You need a person who takes ownership of the technical setup from the signed agreement to the final production go-live date without constant guidance on process or bank product technical specifications.

02

What do we check before you see anyone?

We check their logs for treasury product cycle completion. We confirm they managed setups for ACH, wires, and positive pay. We ask them to identify differences between API and file formats. We verify their history of technical troubleshooting with client staff. We check how they worked around product limits to hit dates. We review their records of documenting product requirements.

We first confirm whether they prioritize speed of setup or data integrity when client timelines conflict with technical requirements. We require they explain a situation where they rejected a client configuration request because it compromised security or data standards. We then test their workflow for mapping complex data fields by providing a sample file and asking them to identify three points of failure in an integration. We ask how they handle the tradeoff between providing concierge support to a client and maintaining their own queue capacity without pulling engineering resources away from other high priority tasks.

03

Where do we find them?

We look for these professionals within existing corporate banking treasury departments or established fintech implementation teams. They move when the product variety becomes stagnant or when the implementation process loses its focus on technical complexity. Someone might move if their current role is purely administrative and they want to handle more complex API and ERP integration projects.

04

Which hiring mistakes should you watch for?

  • 01Hiring someone with strong sales skills but zero experience in backend file transmission or technical integration.
  • 02Prioritizing internal bank operations knowledge over experience with external corporate client interaction.
  • 03Ignoring the need for someone who can translate technical errors into language a corporate client understands.

05

The search in three steps

  • 01Screen candidate portfolios for specific experience in treasury systems setup and file mapping.
  • 02Evaluate their ability to troubleshoot transmission issues during a live technical interview.
  • 03Present selected candidates for your final review and decision.

How your Treasury Management Implementation Specialist search runs

How does The Six-Step Search work?

One sequence, from a well-defined seat to a shortlist you can judge.

  1. Search Calibration

We start with a call about the seat, the books, the owners and the people the hire will work with. We learn what the role must fix in the first year and what would make a candidate wrong even if the resume looks right.

You get: A written search brief: scope, must-haves, deal-breakers and the pay range, agreed with you.

  2. Market Mapping

We map the companies and institutions where the right people already work: similar size, similar ownership, similar complexity, in your market and in others.

You get: The target list of companies and institutions we will search, reviewed with you before outreach.

  3. Professional Contact Intelligence

We find direct ways to reach the people on the map. Most are employed and not reading job boards, so reaching them takes real research.

You get: Direct routes to people who are not on job boards, researched for your search.

  4. Persistent Personalized Outreach

We call and write to people individually and follow up. Interest varies, so we discuss the actual opportunity rather than promising a particular response.

You get: One-to-one conversations about your actual role, followed up, never a mass email blast.

  5. Live Candidate Qualification

We speak with every candidate before you do. We check scope, systems, reporting lines, compensation expectations, location and why they would move.

You get: Only candidates we have spoken with, checked on scope, systems, pay, location and motive.

  6. Candidate Intelligence and Process Support

You receive a short written brief on each finalist covering what they have done, where they are thin and what they want. Then we help with interviews, references and the offer.

You get: A short written brief on each finalist, plus help with interviews, references, counteroffer risk and the offer.
