What does this hire really come down to?
This role manages your financial reporting accuracy through system configuration. You need someone who converts accounting requirements into system workflows. They manage administrative controls and configuration settings.
The day to day involves auditing user permissions and troubleshooting sync errors between Sage Intacct and peripheral tools. They must handle chart of accounts updates and dimension structures. When things break, they are the first point of contact for the finance team.
Ask candidates to describe how they resolved an integration failure during month-end, their process for resolving user permission conflicts, and their method for mapping multi-entity data structures.
You need to define the technical scope of the Sage Intacct environment before we start interviewing. Start by documenting your current module stack including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and any third party payroll or expense management integrations. We must know the number of entities you manage and if you use multi-currency features. Ask candidates about their experience with dimension structure. A strong administrator must explain how they set up dimensions to track specific financial data points without bloating the general ledger. Verify if they know how to build custom reports that pull from those dimensions accurately. Probe their method for managing user roles. If they cannot describe how they restrict access to sensitive financial modules, they risk your internal data integrity. Ask them to walk you through a specific instance where they had to audit user activity after a configuration error. Do they prioritize standard system features over custom coding? If they lean toward heavy scripting for simple tasks, your maintenance burden will grow. A practical administrator uses the native system workflow settings first to minimize future technical debt. Ask how they document mapping logic. If the answer involves only oral tradition or informal notes, expect long term trouble during system updates or personnel changes. We also look for evidence of sandbox testing maturity. Request a description of their release cycle management. Do they deploy changes to production without a peer review or a trial run in a non-production environment? This indicates high risk. Finally, ask about their approach to sync errors. They should identify the failure point in the integration log and describe the corrective step taken to reconcile the data mismatch. Look for a methodical diagnostic process rather than trial and error. We screen for professionals who demonstrate this systematic logic to maintain your system stability.
- 01We verify their history with multi-entity Sage Intacct environments.
- 02We confirm their ability to manage GL account updates independently.
- 03We check if they have configured custom reporting and dashboards for audit needs.
- 04We ask for examples of mapping external transaction data into the GL.
- 05We review their approach to role-based access control and user provisioning.
- 06We evaluate how they manage software updates and sandbox testing procedures.
02
Where do we find them?
We search for candidates in existing Sage Intacct environments. We target administrators in companies currently using the software for consolidation. We look at candidates moving from firms where the system hit a limit on complexity.
Candidates move for three reasons. They seek a larger firm where they can expand their module knowledge. They want to move away from consulting environments into a single internal platform. They leave roles where technical system upgrades remain stalled due to lack of budget.
- 01Neglecting to test new configuration changes in the sandbox environment first.
- 02Overcomplicating workflows instead of using standard system features.
- 03Failing to document custom settings or mapping logic for future troubleshooting.
03
The search in three steps
We map out your current modules and pain points to define the candidate profile. We contact our network of active users and system administrators. We deliver qualified candidates for your direct interview and assessment.
This is a contingency search. You pay no fees until you choose to hire an individual we introduce. All terms are agreed upon in writing before we begin the search process. We do not provide guarantees outside of our standard agreement language.
- 01Define current system modules and integration complexity.
- 02Identify and screen candidates with Sage Intacct specific hands-on experience.
- 03Present candidates for your review and technical assessment.
How your Sage Intacct Administrator search runs
How does The Six-Step Search work?
One sequence, from a well-defined seat to a shortlist you can judge.
Search Calibration
We start with a call about the seat, the books, the owners and the people the hire will work with. We learn what the role must fix in the first year and what would make a candidate wrong even if the resume looks right.
You get: A written search brief: scope, must-haves, deal-breakers and the pay range, agreed with you.
Market Mapping
We map the companies and institutions where the right people already work: similar size, similar ownership, similar complexity, in your market and in others.
You get: The target list of companies and institutions we will search, reviewed with you before outreach.
Professional Contact Intelligence
We find direct ways to reach the people on the map. Most are employed and not reading job boards, so reaching them takes real research.
You get: Direct routes to people who are not on job boards, researched for your search.
Persistent Personalized Outreach
We call and write to people individually and follow up. Interest varies, so we discuss the actual opportunity rather than promising a particular response.
You get: One-to-one conversations about your actual role, followed up, never a mass email blast.
Live Candidate Qualification
We speak with every candidate before you do. We check scope, systems, reporting lines, compensation expectations, location and why they would move.
You get: Only candidates we have spoken with, checked on scope, systems, pay, location and motive.
Candidate Intelligence and Process Support
You receive a short written brief on each finalist covering what they have done, where they are thin and what they want. Then we help with interviews, references and the offer.
You get: A short written brief on each finalist, plus help with interviews, references, counteroffer risk and the offer.
