01
What does this hire really come down to?
Who updates existing configuration schemas to stop specific GL and sub-ledger sync errors? This role requires hands-on configuration of GL and sub-ledger modules to verify accurate data movement. If they cannot modify existing schemas without breaking reports, ask them how they test their changes against existing downstream dependencies.
Expect this person to manage security access and troubleshoot batch failures. They must understand the technical bridge between AP, AR, and fixed asset modules. Do they configure AP and AR modules to match your current ledger requirements?
Ask how they handle period-end bottlenecks within the system. Ask which specific Oracle Financials sub-modules they have personally configured from scratch. Ask for an example of a time an integration failed and how they resolved the mapping issue in production.
Press for the specific steps taken to verify GL balance accuracy during that manual fix.
02
What do we check before you see anyone?
Before you interview a candidate, we hold a scope call to define if your system needs a builder or a caretaker. If you have active development underway, you need someone who constructs workflows, but if you have a stable system, you need someone who manages change requests. We ask every candidate to describe their process for mapping a new chart of accounts segment to existing sub-ledger rules without causing data drift. We press them on how they isolate a failed concurrent request in a production environment and the specific SQL queries they use to extract audit data for a reconciliation error. We also examine a difficult hiring tradeoff. You must choose between a candidate who knows your specific industry regulations well but lacks experience with your specific Oracle version, or a candidate who knows your version perfectly but lacks industry context. Choosing the former means you spend time teaching them the technical system logic while they handle the accounting rules. Choosing the latter means you spend time explaining your specific business logic while they handle the heavy technical lifting. We check that they can show how they built a custom validation rule to block bad entries at the source. We ask how they document their changes and if they have ever had to roll back a configuration change that impacted month-end close. We look for proof that they have personally handled the mapping of external data files into the general ledger. We verify if they understand the difference between fixing a system bug and adjusting an accounting policy. If they cannot explain how their configuration choices impact downstream reporting time, they will struggle to assist your finance team during high-pressure cycles.
- 01Technical checkWe verify active Oracle certification to confirm they apply current version architecture to configuration requirements.
- 02Module masteryWe confirm they have hands-on experience specifically with GL, AP, and AR rather than just peripheral user experience.
- 03Integration workWe check their ability to link Oracle with outside banking or payroll software using standard API calls.
- 04Reporting validationWe ask for specific examples of custom report creation using BI tools that pull directly from Oracle tables.
- 05Data integrityWe test their methodology for correcting erroneous journal entries without compromising audit trails.
- 06Version familiarityWe screen for recent project experience with the specific Oracle Cloud or E-Business Suite version you currently run.
03
Where do we find them?
We source from high-growth companies mid-ERP migration and consulting practices that handle recurring implementation work. We look for candidates stuck in a legacy environment who seek a modern cloud transition. We also target those at firms that recently acquired subsidiaries and need to force system consolidation.
These individuals usually move when their current project reaches a steady state and the technical challenges disappear. They leave when the system is fully locked down and they no longer have authority to refine configurations. A move is likely when they have finished the main migration and realize no further growth is possible.
04
Which hiring mistakes should you watch for?
- 01Hiring someone who spent their career only as an end user rather than a technical system administrator.
- 02Prioritizing accounting theory over actual experience managing Oracle configurations and security roles.
- 03Failing to verify if the candidate has worked with your specific version of Oracle Financials versus a competitor.
05
The search in three steps
- 01First we map our target pool to identify professionals currently finishing major Oracle Financials implementation or support projects.
- 02Next we vet each candidate on their ability to configure modules and maintain system security directly in the interface.
- 03Finally we present only those who demonstrate the necessary technical depth and operational accountability required for your system.
How your Oracle Financials (ERP) Analyst search runs
How does The Six-Step Search work?
One sequence, from a well-defined seat to a shortlist you can judge.
Search Calibration
We start with a call about the seat, the books, the owners and the people the hire will work with. We learn what the role must fix in the first year and what would make a candidate wrong even if the resume looks right.
You get: A written search brief: scope, must-haves, deal-breakers and the pay range, agreed with you.
Market Mapping
We map the companies and institutions where the right people already work: similar size, similar ownership, similar complexity, in your market and in others.
You get: The target list of companies and institutions we will search, reviewed with you before outreach.
Professional Contact Intelligence
We find direct ways to reach the people on the map. Most are employed and not reading job boards, so reaching them takes real research.
You get: Direct routes to people who are not on job boards, researched for your search.
Persistent Personalized Outreach
We call and write to people individually and follow up. Interest varies, so we discuss the actual opportunity rather than promising a particular response.
You get: One-to-one conversations about your actual role, followed up, never a mass email blast.
Live Candidate Qualification
We speak with every candidate before you do. We check scope, systems, reporting lines, compensation expectations, location and why they would move.
You get: Only candidates we have spoken with, checked on scope, systems, pay, location and motive.
Candidate Intelligence and Process Support
You receive a short written brief on each finalist covering what they have done, where they are thin and what they want. Then we help with interviews, references and the offer.
You get: A short written brief on each finalist, plus help with interviews, references, counteroffer risk and the offer.
Questions people ask
Must I pay before hiring someone to configure our broken Oracle general ledger modules?
No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire.
How do you distinguish this role from a regular accountant?
A regular accountant uses the system as a tool. This analyst owns the system configuration, security permissions, and integration health.
Do you provide contract services?
We can adjust the engagement for contract, temp-to-perm, or project-based work. We agree on the terms for these arrangements per specific request.
Does this role have the authority to change accounting policy?
No, this role controls the technical execution of system logic. Accounting leadership must define the policy that the analyst then implements.
What is the fee for a Oracle Financials (ERP) Analyst search?
No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire. The fee and terms are agreed in writing before we start.
How soon will I see a Oracle Financials (ERP) Analyst shortlist?
It depends on the seat, the location and the pay. We give you an honest read after the calibration call and we do not promise dates we cannot control.
What about counteroffers on a Oracle Financials (ERP) Analyst hire?
We ask every Oracle Financials (ERP) Analyst candidate early why they would move and what their employer might do to keep them. Counteroffer risk goes in the written brief before you make an offer.
What is your guarantee?
We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement.
What don't you do?
We do not post your Oracle Financials (ERP) Analyst job and forward whoever applies. We do not send stacks of unscreened resumes, and we do not recruit outside accounting, finance, banking and insurance.
